1/3 cup butter or 65 g, melted
2 teaspoons vanilla powder
1 tin NESTLÉ® Sweetened Condensed Milk or 397 g
1½ cups semolina or 240 g
1½ cups white self-raising flour or 210 g
¾ cup corn flour or 90 g
2 teaspoons baking powder
¼ cup ground almonds or 25 g
lemon zest, one medium piece
2 cups oil for deep frying
2 cups sugar syrup or 500 g
Combine butter, eggs, vanilla powder and NESTLÉ® Sweetened Condensed Milk in a bowl. Beat until well combined.
Add semolina, self raising flour, corn flour, baking powder, almond and lemon zest. Beat until smooth dough is formed. Cover with cling film and chill for 2½ hours.
Form the dough into small balls and deep fry in 170°C hot oil until golden brown.
Dip the balls into the syrup for 2-3 minutes then remove and place in a serving dish.
