Ingredients 13 items

  • 8 cups Water or 2 litres
  • 1½ cups green lentils or 250 g, cooked
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 1 large Onion or 200 g finely chopped
  • 400 g minced beef
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 cubes or 20 g MAGGI Chicken Stock
  • ½ cup or 125 ml of hot water
  • 1 medium Carrot or 100 g grated
  • 1 cup Raisins or 100g
  • 2 cups Basmati rice or 400 g
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 medium Onion or 120 g chopped and fried for garnish

How to prepare

  1. Boil lentils in 1000ml of Water until ¾ cooked, drain and set aside.
  2. Heat vegetable oil, sauté chopped Onions, minced Meat until meat is cooked. Add Cinnamon and MAGGI Chicken Stock, water and simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. Add Carrots, Lentils and Raisins to the mix, and remove from heat.
  4. Boil Rice for 10 to 15 minutes in remaining 1000ml water until ¾ cooked (al dente), drain and set aside.
  5. Melt butter on the bottom of a rice pot, place 1/3 of the rice on top, layer half of the meat mixture, layer another 1/3 rice, the remaining meat mixture and cover with remaining 1/3 of the rice. Cover and cook for 20-30 minutes until rice is cooked.
  6. Garnish with fried onions and serve hot.
