  • 9.5 cups fine semolina
  • 6 cups Plain flour
  • 1 cup Vegetable oil
  • 3 cups Ghee
  • 2.5 tablespoons anise powder
  • 2.5 teaspoons ground mahlab
  • 3 cups Water
  • 1.5 tablespoons yeast
  • 1 tin NESTLÉ Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • 3 cups Vegetable oil
  • 1 liter sugar syrup

How to prepare

  1. Combine all the ingredients together to make dough (except the sugar syrup and the oil which is for frying). Keep aside for 20 minutes.
  2. Make small balls with the dough; roll each ball with your hand over the back of a strainer to make a pattern. You may use anything else to create different pattern designs.
  3. Deep fry on medium heat until golden brown in color.
  4. Dip in the hot sugar syrup for 2-5 minutes. Serve cold.
