Ingredients 8 items

  • 2 cups Tea biscuits
  • 3 cups butter
  • For the topping:
  • 1 tin NESTLÉ Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup Brown sugar
  • 200 g plain chocolate
  • 1 cup Pistachio nuts

How to prepare

  1. Combine biscuits and butter then press the dough into a 20cm x 28cm rectangular cake tin and bake in a 190°C preheated oven for 10 minutes. Remove from oven.
  2. Place NESTLÉ Sweetened Condensed Milk, butter and sugar in a nonstick saucepan. Cook with stirring over low heat for 5-6 minutes or until the caramel is light golden color and thick.
  3. Remove from heat and pour the caramel over the dough in the tin. Set aside to cool completely.
  4. Melt the chocolate in a bowl over simmering water then stir in the pistachio. Spread the melted chocolate over the caramel topping and allow it to set completely in the fridge.
  5. Cut into diamond shapes to serve.
How to maintain the crunchiness and quality of your pistachios and other nuts? If you can buy them in their shell, they last much longer. If they are without their shell, place them in airtight containers and refrigerate to maintain their quality; this way they can last up to 6 months!

Do pistachios contain any protein?

Not only are pistachios a must-have dessert ingredient, but they are also rich in proteins; 1 handful of 50 kernels contains 6 grams!
